Defining the network boundary and assets in a CMMC assessment scope
No. 01 · The local picture

CMMC readiness where the contractors are.

Orlando carries one of the densest defense and simulation clusters in the country, anchored by the modeling, simulation, and training companies around the Central Florida Research Park. Most of those contractors handle Controlled Unclassified Information, and the primes above them are flowing CMMC requirements down through DFARS 252.204-7012 clauses now, not at some future rule date. If you are searching for a CMMC consultant near you in Orlando, the firm is headquartered here, and the work that benefits from being in the room (scoping the CUI boundary, walking the physical controls, interviewing the people who touch the data) happens in person.

What CMMC readiness covers.

  • Level 1 self-attestation. The 17 controls for contractors handling Federal Contract Information only. Typically 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Level 2 readiness. All 110 NIST 800-171 controls: gap analysis, System Security Plan, POA&M, and an evidence runbook your team can maintain. Typically 4 to 6 months.
  • Level 2 full. Readiness plus C3PAO recommendation, scope pre-negotiation, and liaison through the assessment itself. Typically 6 to 9 months.

SPRS scoring is part of the work from the first week, so your contracts office always knows where the number stands and what each remediation item is worth. Details, including how the assessment objectives are evidenced, live on the CMMC & NIST 800-171 engagement page.

Common questions.

Do you assess us, or get us ready for assessment?

We are a readiness consultant, not a C3PAO. We prepare the System Security Plan, POA&M, and evidence, recommend C3PAOs we have worked with, pre-negotiate scope, and sit with you through the assessment. The C3PAO is independent and bills separately.

Can we keep bidding on DoD contracts while remediation is underway?

Yes, with caveats. Many DoD contracts already include DFARS 252.204-7012 and SPRS scoring requirements. We work with your contracts office to position your current SPRS score honestly while remediation is underway.

Do you work on-site with Orlando defense contractors?

Yes. The firm is headquartered in Orlando, so scoping walkthroughs, CUI boundary reviews, and assessment preparation anywhere in the metro, including the Research Park corridor, carry no travel charge.

How long does CMMC readiness take?

Level 1 work typically runs 4 to 6 weeks. Level 2 readiness typically runs 4 to 6 months, and readiness plus the assessment itself runs 6 to 9 months. The timeline firms up in the statement of work after the gap analysis.
